GCSE Results 2024
After the outstanding A and AS Level results of last week, it was the turn of Stanwell GCSE students to collect their grades and, once again, results day was a time of great celebration and success.
Across the cohort 91% achieved 5 A*-C, with 83% of all Year 11 students achieving a minimum of 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths. Particularly impressive is that 3 out of every 10 students achieved 10A*-A grades, nearly 50% achieved 5A*-A and 53% achieved an A or A* in Maths.
There were also very many excellent individual performances with 24 students gaining straight A*\A grades in all of their GCSE courses. The school is very proud of all of the students and, as always, there are too many superb individual achievements to highlight them all.
Mr Rhys MacPherson, Assistant Headteacher, said “The determination and dedication shown by students has been remarkable, and the results attained are a testament to the incredible effort they have put in. We are extremely proud of all students and hope they take the time to celebrate their individual achievements with their friends and families. I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents/carers for their support during the last 5 years, and all of the staff for their relentless commitment to ensuring all pupils are provided with fantastic learning opportunities in Stanwell School. We wish all of our learners the best of luck as they pursue their next steps.”
The many staff who attended school to congratulate students and help give out results and advice were delighted with the success of their students. Ms Eloise Ghazi-Torbati, Head of Year 11, said “it has been a pleasure to work with this fantastic group of students. They have shown maturity and determination to attain these excellent grades which will set them up for the next stage in their education and it is important to note that these students missed the first year of secondary school due to the pandemic so they have done exceptionally well in these exceptional circumstances.” Mr Jason Ovens, Head of Year 11, highlighted to the year group that there is a team of staff in school if anyone wants to discuss their results or review options for next academic year.
