Penarth

Across the water from Cardiff Bay lies the charming coastal town of Penarth. Boasting an elegant Victorian Pier, Art Deco Pavilion, restaurants, bars and beach. The town itself manages to preserve its tranquil seaside atmosphere with a great community spirit and is well situated with a Victorian Arcade, independent retailers and plenty of small intimate coffee shops making it an ideal location to both live and visit. Surrounded by landscaped parks and the ever popular Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Medieval Village it’s easy to see why Penarth often makes the Times Top 10 ‘Best places to Live in the UK’ list.

Penarth’s history is centred on the sea and trade links – 4.5 million tons of coal would leave Penarth Docks every year. Those very same docks have now developed beyond recognition into Penarth Marina, complete with popular restaurants, small intimate coffee shops and of course some spectacular boats. From the Marina you can hop aboard a water taxi that will take you over to Cardiff Bay offering fabulous views of the barrage. Penarth also hosts the Annual Summer Festival held over several areas of the town and attracts visitors in their thousands! The International Festival of Food and Drink and Penarth Yacht Club Regatta are also popular events held in Penarth during the summer months. The splendid pier has a great advantage point for watching the PS Waverley continue its grand Victorian tradition of paddle-steamer trips across the Bristol Channel.
